What a newborn session actually looks like

Tammy arrives with soft wraps, a couple of simple knit caps, and nothing that needs a truck to carry. She finds the best window in your home, sets up on a bed or a sofa, and then mostly waits — because a newborn session is really an exercise in patience with a camera attached.

There is no gymnastics, no dangerous posing, no stacking a two-week-old into shapes they cannot hold. What you get instead is the truthful version: the curl of a spine, the impossible fingernails, the specific weight of a baby asleep on their mother’s chest.

Included in every newborn session

• A planning call before the birth, so nothing is decided while you are exhausted
• 45–75 minutes, extended without charge if the baby needs it
• In-home across Northern Virginia, or the Falls Church studio if you prefer
• Simple wraps, caps and neutral textures — no themed props
• Parent and sibling frames, always offered, never forced
• 15+ finished, print-ready images in a private online gallery within two weeks
• A short preview within 48 hours, for the people waiting on their phones

Safety, plainly

Every image that looks like a baby is balancing unsupported is made with a parent’s hands in the frame and the hands edited out afterwards. Tammy never leaves a newborn unattended on a raised surface, never uses a pose that puts weight on the neck, and washes and warms her hands and every wrap before she starts.

Booking while you are still pregnant

Newborn dates cannot be created on demand — there are only so many two-week windows in a month. Most families reserve somewhere between 20 and 34 weeks. If you are already past that, write anyway; Tammy keeps two flexible slots a month for babies who arrive with short notice.
